Taylor 614ce

I bought my Taylor 614ce ‘Guitars for the Gulf’ edition from Southpaw Guitars, Houston, Texas in December 2006.  It was already in stock so there was no need for a special order.

Headstock Inlay

Between July and December 2006, Taylor guitars could be ordered with a headstock bearing the fleur-de-lis (a symbol of New Orleans) inlaid in genuine mother-of-pearl. The inlay (valued at $100) was free to the customer, but for every Guitar for the Gulf sold, Taylor contributed to The Tipitina's Foundation (for Hurricane Katrina victims), up to a total of $25,000.

Truss Rod Cover

Shortly after I got the guitar I ordered the ‘dove of peace’ TRC from Capt. Bill (Nichols) of Nichols Custom Inlay.

Although maple is considered ‘bright’ sounding, there is definitely a warmth to the overall tone as well as bags of zing and clarity - I love it!!
